I hope that you are all safe and well. As the time is passing we are sadly hearing that some of our families have been directly affected by Covid-19. Our thoughts and prayers go out to you during this very difficult time. I would like you to know that you are not alone and if there’s any support that we can give you during this time, please do not hesitate to contact the school there is always myself or Ms Hindle on site.
Teachers contacting Parents
Many of you will have received phone calls from your child’s class teacher. I hope that you have found these calls helpful and reassuring. Teachers have missed the children a great deal and I know that there are many children who are also missing their teachers and being at school. We will continue to make contact with you via phone in the coming weeks however please continue to use your child’s class dojo to maintain contact about home learning.
There is much media coverage about when schools should re-open. This is not helpful either to you as parents or to us. As yet there has not been a definitive date set for re-opening and we are awaiting more direction from the government about when and how this should happen. Once we have some further clarity about this, I will be in touch with you to let you know what this will mean for Bond Primary School.
As you know the school is open for children of essential workers. A list of roles that are categorised as essential can be found at https://www.gov.uk/guidance/coronavirus-covid-19-getting-tested#list-of-essential-workers-and-those-prioritised-for-testing-england-only.
Those of you who are essential workers and fall under the vulnerable category have shared concerns with us about sending your children to school. This is understandable given the circumstances and the conflicting messages we receive about how Covid-19 presents in children. If you are thinking about sending your child/ren to school but are having some reservations, please call us at school to talk these through with us.
Your child’s class teacher will let you know when your child’s home learning pack can be collected from the school if you prefer to have a paper copy. It is important for you to set an expectation that home learning should be completed however the amount of time spent on learning and how much a child is able to get through will be different. We are under an incredible amount of pressure at the moment so please ensure that you are able to achieve a balance of home learning and family life. Some of us may not get an opportunity to spend so much time with our children again so take time to create loving memories.
Ramadan has started for many of our families. A time for great reflection and to embrace humility through the practice of fasting. This Ramadan will be unlike any that have taken place in previous years due to coronavirus restrictions. Please visit the NHS website for guidance during this time.
